Behind stellar performances by Jai’lain Anderson and Jayshon Jones, Shelbyville Central’s Golden Eagles claimed a District 8-AAA win on the road by defeating Lawrence County 58-50 on Friday night.
Anderson and Jones each scored 19 points to lead the Eagles.
“This was a great win for our team. Our guys battled and played together,” Central coach Andrew Hicks said. “We’ve still got a long way to go before we reach our potential and where we want to be. It’s always nice to get a district win on the road.”
The Eagles led 19-10 after the first quarter, 28-18 at halftime and took a 42-29 lead into the fourth quarter.
Earman Garcia joined scoring in double figures for the winners with 11.
Kaden Vaugham netted 14 tallies while Ty Cobb contributed 10 for Lawrence County.
The Eagles entertain district foe Lincoln County tonight at 7:30 in a makeup game from last week due to the weather.
