Raus Community Improvement Club (RCIC) has just undertaken the large task of renovating the historic school house, with the help of generous support. Sadly, Monday morning’s storm severely damaged the front of the building.
RCC organizers said they’re “thankful for insurance.” The group will rebuild the front which suffered the most. Generous donations in the amount of $28,000 have been received of late to restore the historic school house. This amply covered the cost of replacing the dilapidated kitchen floor, organizers recently said.
Still on RCIC’s wish list is a gas stove. Always and forever grateful, organizers thanked the community recently for its continued outpouring of support. From giving online in the Big Payback to buying ice cream at the annual fundraiser, the outpouring of the community keeps the little one-room school house, which has precious roots in that community, upright.
Local businesses have also been generous supporters for the renovation project.
