Betty Jane Lamb, age 82, of Shelbyville passed from this life early Monday morning, March 20, 2023, at The Waters of Shelbyville after an extended illness.

Born September 21, 1940, in Coffee County, Jane was the daughter of the late Wiley B. and Eula Mae Anderson Floyd. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by: brothers, Kenneth, McKinnley and Owen Floyd; and sisters, Martha Floyd, Vicky Floyd, Eta Mae Cook, and Vera Sue Hoover.

Jane had a caring heart, she had quit school early in life to help support her family but would later return to receive her GED from Motlow Community college and would become a substitute teacher and special education assistant teacher with Eastside Elementary and Eakin Elementary for many years. In her free time she enjoyed any activity with her husband, together they rode motorcycles, worked around the house, attended races, visits to the lake, just about anything and everything together. She was a longtime member of North Fork Baptist Church and will be missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by: loving husband of 53 years, James Rickey Lamb of Shelbyville; son, James “Jim” (Dena) Lamb of Shelbyville; grandsons, Michael and Christopher Lamb; sisters, Patsy Cook and Annette Warren; brothers, Danny and Ricky Floyd; also many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, March 23, 2023, in the chapel of Doak-Howell Funeral Home with Pastor Rob McKamey officiating. Burial will follow at Pressgrove Cemetery.

Visitation will be held 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Thursday, prior to funeral services at the funeral home.
