A motorcycle rider was seriously injured Sunday night when he lost control of his motorcycle at the sharp curve on Horse Mountain Road near the east side of H.V. Griffin Park.
Terence Hines suffered “severe trauma” to his left leg and the motorcycle was pinned under a guard rail, police said.
First responders noted a strong smell of alcohol. Hines told Officer Dylan Bliss he’d had one alcoholic beverage and “one shot of liquor.”
Hines was taken to a Murfreesboro hospital.
•A hit-and-run driver struck a man on a bicycle on South Cannon Boulevard near Lafayette Street shortly before midnight Friday, police said.
The victim was lying on the sidewalk suffering from neck and rib pain when officers arrived. He was bleeding from the head and had road rash on a knee.
He told police a vehicle had run onto the sidewalk. Officers found a side mirror from a pickup truck, possibly a Ford, and two other vehicle pieces in the street near the victim.
Fleeing suspect
Two officers’ threats of taser use stopped a suspect who allegedly tried to run Saturday afternoon.
Officers looking for a woman pushing a clothing-filled buggy at River Bottom Park saw two tents on the bank of Duck River and found Scott Elgin inside one.
Elgin, who had been living in Lawrenceburg, begin running into nearby woods when officers discovered he was wanted in Moore County. He fell and gave up in response to the taser threats.
Police charged Elgin with evading arrest. He was held on $3,000 bond.
Sudden shot
A homeless man living “somewhere in the woods in Unionville” told a Bedford County deputy a bullet flew out of a fire and struck his left foot Saturday.
The man was treated and released at Vanderbilt Bedford Hospital for a small bullet wound, the report said.
The victim said he was burning items in a barrel when the bullet flew out. He was unable to specify exactly where he’s been staying.
Drug charge
A passenger in a car stopped for a broken taillight was charged with drug possession after officers smelled marijuana, according to a report.
The report stated Dakoda Marshawn Morrow, 18, of Murfreesboro had 1.2 grams of methamphetamine and 4 grams of marijuana in a case and a glass pipe near Morrow’s seat. He allegedly said the items were his and was jailed on $13,000 bond.
Theft
A yard trailer was stolen from a Narrows Road home between April 1 and May 6, according to a sheriff’s office report.
