Blue Raiders hosting Kennesaw State for Conference USA series

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee softball will host the Kennesaw State Owls for a Conference USA series beginning on March 28. There will be a double header played on Friday, with the first games set to begin at 4:00 pm with game two immediately following. The series finale is set for Saturday, March 29 at 3:00 pm. The games will be streamed on ESPN+ and live stats can be found at Stat Broadcast.

The Blue Raiders (14-19, 3-6) are coming off a thrilling victory at Memphis where they won by a score of 8-7. With the game tied 5-5 entering the seventh inning, Lexi Medlock hit a go-ahead two run home run to put Middle Tennessee ahead. The Tigers gave the Blue Raiders a scare in the bottom of the inning but were unable to finish the job. Julia Garcia reached base three times in the game. Ava Tepe was hit by two pitches to bring her season total to seven which leads Conference USA. Tepe now has 34 hit by pitches in her career and is inching closer to the program record of 37.

The previous weekend saw MTSU drop a series to LA Tech where Ansley Blevins led the way recording a .375 batting average in the series. Game two saw Lilly Pendergrast smash the first home run of her collegiate career—a three-run shot to left-center field. Pitcher Leila Ammon recorded 10 strikeouts in the first game of the series, the most by a Blue Raider since the 2017 season.

The Blue Raiders have earned five weekly awards this season, with Ansley Blevins taking Conference USA Player of the Week honors and Jana Want and Leila Ammon each securing two Freshman of the Week accolades.

Scouting the opponent

Kennesaw State – The 2025 Kennesaw State Owls hold a 9-24 record with an 0-9 Conference USA record. The Owls will enter the series on a seven-game losing streak and hold an 0-14 record away from home. In the all-time series, Middle Tennessee holds an 0-3 record vs. the Owls. Kennesaw State is led by head coach Tripp Mackay who is in his seventh year with  the program and has 142 wins in the seven seasons. The Kennesaw State offense is led by Hannah Harvey who leads the team with 100 at bats. Kenley Hilleary leads the pitching staff with a 3.26 ERA over 64.1 innings.
