MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee men's basketball has signed Savon Wykle to its 2025-26 roster, head coach Nick McDevitt announced Tuesday afternoon. The 6-5 guard is a native of Smyrna, Tenn., and will be a graduate transfer coming from the University of Missouri – St. Louis.
In his senior season with the Tritons, he saw time in all 33 games, starting in 32 of them, while averaging 11.7 points per contest. Wykle shot 41.8 percent from the field during the 2024-25 season, totaling 42.8 percent during his two years at the Division II institution. He tallied a career-high 23 points in February at Lewis, shooting 7-for-12 from the field along with three made threes. In his junior season at UMSL, the Smyrna High School graduate averaged 9.7 points per game, while shooting 39.9 percent from behind the arc.
Prior to arriving at UMSL, Wykle played his sophomore season at Northwood College, appearing in 23 games and starting in 20 for the program for an average of 30.4 minutes per contest. He scored 11.8 points per matchup, also bringing in 3.9 rebounds in each game. Wykle shot a 40.3 percent clip from the field on the season and scored a season-high 21 points against Kentucky Wesleyan.
Wykle began his collegiate career at Parkland College in Champaign, Illinois, making 47 starts in 48 appearances in two years for the Cobras. His freshman season saw him named Mid-West Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year, NJCAA All-Region 24 Team and All-MWAC Second Team. He averaged 10.6 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game, shooting 52.7 percent from the field. Wykle ranked in the NJCAA/DII top-100 in blocks (31st) and field goal percentage (70th) during the 2020-21 season. His following campaign saw improvements in all aspects of the game, earning another nod to the MWAC All-Conference Season Team. He tallied 13.1 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists per contest while shooting 45.8 percent from the floor and 43.8 percent from behind the arc, a mark that was the 16th best in the nation.
Wykle attended Smyrna High School for his secondary years, earning an All-Area selection during his senior season, while also being named a two-time All-District player.
