Brenda Gayle Gibson, age 75, of Shelbyville, passed from this life early Friday, January 6, 2023, under the care of hospice at her home.
Gayle was born on July 14, 1947, to the late John and Emily Owens Meek. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 51 years, James Gibson.
She was a 1965 graduate of Bell Buckle High School, and in the same year married James. She received a bachelor’s degree in science and a master’s in art from MTSU. She worked in the mental health field for many years in Bedford and surrounding counties. She didn’t prefer cooking but she was a foodie; she loved to try different types of food while dining out. Gayle leaves behind a legacy of love to her family and will be greatly missed by all.
Survivors include: brother, Sam (Annie) Meek of Shelbyville; sisters, Debra K. (Ricky) Dye of Shelbyville and Faye (Cam) Moss of Nashville; a multitude of nephews and nieces; and her fur babies, Ande and Ava Gibson.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday, January 9, in the chapel of Doak-Howell Funeral Home with Josh Hand officiating, followed by a private graveside service at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
