The 2023 Cascade High School baseball season is is full swing by raising funds for future renovations of new dugouts, stadium seating and netting, per head coach, Travis Sheffield, ahead of his first season at the helm.
Sheffield hosted a player-parent meeting, discussing the newly formed Cascade Home Run Club, a 501c3 which enables donors to support the program, while receiving tax free benefits.
Sheffield announced to those in attendance the first corporate sponsor on the renovation project.
Scott Coconaugher and Nolan Barnes of First Community Bank of Bedford County committed $10,000 to this project and also wanted challenged other businesses in the area to contribute as well.
Barnes, a Cascade alumnus, and Coconaugher said, “This is a testament to our service and giving back to our community as well as to the student-athletes of this area. We look forward to seeing the progression of this program and others.”
“He and his executive board are meeting with corporations and companies to secure more funding to move forward with this much needed project, which is Phase 2,” Sheffield said.
“We are currently nearing completion of Phase 1, which has been the renovation of the interior of 30 x 90 indoor hitting and pitching facility, new lockers and locker room, coaches office and llayer lounge area. We look forward to moving into Phase 2 renovations for our baseball fans and players. It’s exciting times,” Sheffield said.
