The Cascade Champions finished off a busy but successful week of wrestling with a tri-match split on Friday evening against Eagleville and Cornersville and an abundance of individual victories on Saturday morning in the Frank Alexander Invitational Tournament.
At Eagleville, the Champions came away with a dominant 54-18 victory over Cornersville, but couldn’t muster a similar result against Eagleville as they fell to a 45-27 defeat.
Losses in the 138 and 152 divisions were the only shortcomings against Cornersville outside of forfeits.
Champion wrestlers Max Darefsky, Isaac Chapa, and Dylan Warren all pinned their opponents in less than 30 seconds.
In the second leg of the tri-match, only Chapa and Hayden Dowell won via pin.
Cole West, Dylan Warren, and Chase Sutter were the only other Champion wrestlers to secure a victory against Eagleville with Warren’s being the lone decision win (12-10).
On Saturday, seven wrestlers earned first place finishes in their respective brackets.
Dowell, Chapa, Sutter, Warren, West, William Kramer, and Vayden Moore all were top of the podium for Cascade.
The individuals competed in three rounds of matches during the tournament with a victory advancing them to the next round.
Of the seven wrestlers that secured first place, only one victory across their 21 combined rounds was decided by points with the other 20 rounds being wins via pin.
Multiple schools were represented in the tournament with the likes of Hume-Fogg Academic Magnet, Greenbriar, Page, Rockvale, and Wilson Central all in competition.
Cascade will be back in action on Tuesday at Moore County.
