After Franklin Christian Academy plated two runs in the top of the first inning, the Cascade Champions rode the momentum off the hot bat of Chance Brown to a 12-3 blowout victory in the first game of the Walking Horse Classic on Thursday afternoon.

Following the two runs driven in by FCA in the top of the frame, senior short stop Cade Whitson got the bats going for the Champs with a leadoff double and advanced to third on a stolen base, bringing sophomore Chance Brown to the plate.

Brown settled in and mashed a two-run blast over the right field fence to tie the game at two apiece.

Cascade went on to plate three more runs in the inning and never let off the throttle, scoring in each inning during the time-shortened five innings.

Ryan Inmon followed Brown's dinger with a walk and scored on a double by senior first baseman Alex Allison.

Allison later scored on a single by Colby Melson, giving Cascade the 4-2 lead with no outs.

The Champs got two more runs in the inning off an error and a RBI single by pitcher Zach Crosslin.

The hot night at the plate continued for Cascade as the Champs plated two more runs in the second inning when Brown scored on an error and Allison mashed his second RBI single of the night.

Two more runs crossed the plate in the third when Brown and Hunter Lemmons scored on FCA errors.

Cascade closed the game with a three-spot in the bottom of the fourth when James McGee drew a bases-loaded walk, Jake Bates scored on a RBI single and Storm Sims scored on an error.

While Brown had the biggest swing of the night, Allison was the offensive hero, driving in four RBIs in the victor.

Crosslin took the win on the bump for the Champs and pitched a solid four innings, allowing just two earned runs on four hits.

He also struck out four.

Bates took over in the fifth and pitched the final inning in relief and struck out one while keeping the FCA bats silenced.

Cascade returned to its home field in the Walking Horse Classic on Friday and hosted Community.
