HUNTLAND - Runs were a premium between the Cascade Champions and Huntland Hornets on Monday night.

After a scoreless seven innings, it was Huntland who walked off in a 1-0 eighth-inning thriller against Cascade.

Mason Kerr scored the game-winner in the bottom of the eighth on a single by Deshaun Reynolds.

For Cascade, hits were few and far between, with the team only mustering up four singles against the Hornets' pitching staff, with Conner Melson recording a pair of base hits.

Adam Reeves and Chance Brown also singled in the loss.

While offense was hard to come by, premier pitching was on full display from both squads.

Tyler Knight delivered a seven-inning gem for the Champs and gave up just two hits and punched out 11 batters, while walking just two.

Huntland's Kolbi Stewart was equally as effective, allowing four hits, but striking out 10 batters in seven innings.

Cascade returns to its home field, weather-pending, Tuesday evening.
