BELL BUCKLE, Tenn. – The Cascade Champions (2-0) utilized seven first-inning runs to carry them to a five-inning run-rule victory against the visiting Richland Raiders, 14-2, on Tuesday night.

The Champions jumped all over Richland starter Trey Fox, tallying three hits and seven runs in the first inning alone. Fox did strike out one batter, but he also walked two more. Jordan Childress got the party started early with a leadoff single after Dawson Youngblood held the Raiders scoreless in the top half of the inning.

Fox retired the next two batters before an error at second base kept the inning alive. A Jayden Hathcock walk followed by a Jackson Milliken bases-clearing triple put Cascade up 3-0. Two of the three next batters were hit by a pitch, sandwiching a walk, before Jordan Childress stepped back into the box and laced a bases-clearing double to center field, growing Cascade’s lead to 7-0 at the end of the first inning.

Jordan Childress (1) went 3-4 at the plate with 5 RBI and a home run on Tuesday.

Youngblood held the Raiders scoreless in all four innings of work, giving up just five hits while striking out seven batters and walking just two on 64 pitches. Isaac Winton pitched the fifth inning, giving up a pair of runs on two hits and two walks to go along with a strikeout on 28 pitches.

Wickey Parker led off the second inning with a towering home run over the right-field wall for his third four-bagger in two games to start the season before Winton singled home Thomas Demartelaere to extend the Champs’ lead to 9-0. An error in the outfield scored two more for Cascade before the third inning.

The hosts tacked on another run in the third inning on an RBI groundout by Hathcock to score Parker to grow the lead to 12-0.

Then, in the fourth inning, Jordan Childress crushed his first home run of the season with a line drive over the left-field wall for a two-run home run to score Cascade’s 13th and 14th runs of the night.

Richland scored a pair of runs in the top of the fifth against Winton, but they were not enough to survive the run-rule by the close of the inning.

Cascade improves to 2-0 and will travel to Richland for the rematch on Friday with first pitch scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
