Bedford County Commissioner Anita Murray Epperson said recently that she is “committed to conservatism and community service.” She will be seeking a second term to her county government seat during the Aug. 4 general election.  

Epperson represents the 4th District of Bedford County, which includes the Wheel community, where she resides with her husband, Rick Epperson. The family also owns a farm in the Chestnut Ridge community.

A life-long resident of Bedford County, Epperson works professionally as a master barber. She’s also a master beef producer, a member of the Farm Bureau and serves as board president of Middle Tennessee Spay and Neuter Clinic on Union Street. Epperson is also a member of the NRA.  

“I have conservative views but I believe it is important to listen to everyone in my district. My ultimate vote is the voice of the people in the 4th District. I always have an open door policy and try to talk and listen to everyone.”  

Her career in county government spans over 12 years. Epperson worked with previous County Mayor Eugene Ray’s administration.  

Progress she’d like to see over the next 4 years in Bedford County includes: an addition to Liberty School; an ambulance center in the4th District; a convenience center between the 4th and5th districts; and continued local industrial and agricultural growth.  

Epperson said she has a heart for senior citizens. She admits to being a “doting grandmother” and an “avid animal lover.” She’s a member of Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church.  

The county commissioner is concerned about the tax burdens shifted onto local property owners. “We can’t continue to put the tax burden on property owners alone.”  

Epperson believes she’s the right candidate to serve the 4th District. “I love Bedford County and believe I can serve you well. I am asking for your vote in the August election.”
