SATURDAY

Water Safety Day
The annual Water Safety Day will be held from 9-11 a.m. Saturday, June 4, at Shelbyville Recreation Center’s outdoor pool. The event is free for children 12 and under and features pool safety demonstrations and prizes. Free open swim will be held 11 a.m.-6 p.m.

Wartrace music
Music Under The Wellhouse resumes for 2022 in downtown Wartrace. Jenny Johnson and the Simple Saints will perform from 5-7 p.m. No admission charge.

Flat Creek gathering
Flat Creek Community Center, 115 New Herman Road, will host its monthly potluck dinner and entertainment Saturday, June 4. The meal will begin at 6 p.m. with music at 7. Foreign Locals — a Flat Creek group with Dakota Lawen, Alex Stidham, Angela Wood, and James Wood — will perform a mix of classic covers and original songs.

Cruise-In

Bag Day
Good Samaritan will hold a Bag Day on Monday, June 6, from noon-2 p.m. at 201 E. Highland Ave.

VFW meeting

Normandy music
The Churches of Normandy are hosting Music on Front Street from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday. June 10 in Normandy. Bring your own chair and enjoy an evening of free food, music and fellowship.

Free Fishing Day
The annual Ed Carson Memorial Fishing Day will be Saturday, June 11, at Bedford Lake. Children ages 4-15 are invited. Participants must be accompanied by an adult and bring their own rod, bait and tackle. Call Jennifer, 931-684-9780, for more information.

Raus ice cream
Raus Community Club will hold an ice cream supper beginning 5 p.m. Saturday, June 11. at the historic schoolhouse, 125 Smith Chapel Road. Stones River Bluegrass Band will perform. Proceeds will go for restoration of the schoolhouse.

Moore Co. history
Moore County Historical Society will meet Sunday, June 12 at 2 p.m. at the American Legion, 119 Booneville Highway, Lynchburg. Christine Pyrdom will speak briefly on the founding of Moore County, followed with presentation of certificates to descendents of founding famillies by Moore County Mayor Bonnie Lewis.

Laity Club
Bedford County Laity Club will meet at 6 p.m. Sunday, July 12 at Flat Creek United Methodist Church. A meal will be furnished,

Commodity distribution
South Central Human Resources Agency will hold a commodity food distribution Thursday, June 16, from 10 a.m,-noon, at Bedford County Agriculture Center, 2119 Midland Road. SCHRA staff will place the food in recipients’ vehicles. Call 931-685-9962 with questions.

Juneteenth
Bedford County’s Juneteenth Celebration will be Saturday, June 18, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. on the Shelbyville square. A parade, arts and crafts, food vendors, children’s and youth activities and entertainment stage are planned, A free sports clinic will be held at Thomas School by M&M Sports. RC-Moon Pie Festival
Bell Buckle’s 27th RC & Moonpie Festival will be Saturday, June 18. The 2022 King is country recording artist Jimmy Wayne and Queen is Jackie Marushka, a Nashville-based entertainment industry public relations executive. The traditional parade, run and vendors, and two performances by country artist Hunter Taylor, are scheduled.

Dairy Day
Nash Family Creamery, U.S. 41A North, is holding Dairy Day from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, June 18. Hayrides to the calf barn, a cow to pet, a bounce house, craft vendors and performances by the Mid-State Cloggers are planned.

Cruise-In
Celebration City Car Club’s May Cruise-In will be Friday, May 27 from 6-8 p.m. on the Shelbyville square. Food trucks will be present, Chase Clanton and Vintage Vibes will perform and WZNG-The Zinger (100.9 FM/1400 AM) will broadcast live. Cruise-Ins are held each fourth Friday during warm weather months.

JUNE 25

Tennessee Downs on the Square
Tennessee Downs on the Square, to introduce the car lifestyle center planned for northern Bedford County, will be 9-11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 25 on the Shelbyville square. Sports car vendors will be present and live music by The Unforgettables is scheduled. Makers Market, held in conjunction and highlighting local and area vendors, is being held by the Bedford County Court House Annex on the south side of the square during the day.

Backyard Olympics
The first Backyard Olympics will be held Saturday, June 25 at H.V. Griffin Park by Shelbyville Parks & Recreation.

ONGOING

Soup kitchen
Shelbyville Community Soup Kitchen serves meals from 4-6 p.m. Tuesdays at 336 S. Cannon Blvd. (corner of South Cannon and Pickle Street). Doors open at 3:45. Donations may be made to Shelbyville Community Soup Kitchen, 122 Public Square N., Shelbyville, TN 37160 and are tax deductible under its 501c3 non-profit designation.
Boxed non-perishables are available. Takeouts are no longer distributed.

County meetings
Bedford County Courthouse is closed for government meetings until further notice due to remodeling. Meetings of the full County Commission are held at Shelbyville Central High School auditorium on Eagle Boulevard and committee meetings at Bedford County Office Complex on Dover Street.

Baptist
Calvary Baptist Church will meet at 10 a.m. with Bro. Tony Billions presenting the message. The service will be livestreamed on YouTube and Facebook.
“Your Adversary the Devil” from 1 Peter 5:8 will be Pastor Jimmy West’s message at Edgemont Baptist Church. The church’s 4th of July musical will be at 10 a.m. Sunday, July 3 as the Praise Choir presents “We Believe.”

Vacation Bible School will be held June 20-24 at Fosterville Baptist Church from 6-8:15 p.m. nightly for all ages, preschool through adult. The Nashville Science Guys will present Mr. Bond and his Walloping Weather Show on opening night, when pizza will be served.
Grace Baptist Church’s message by Bro. Bobby McGee will be “When Pleasure Becomes Passion” from 2 Timothy 3:1-5.

The women of Sevier Street First Baptist Church will celebrate “Women Day” at 10 a.m. Minister Rebecca Sutton will speak and Minister Birda Trollinger is the mistress of ceremonies. R.C.Verge is Pastor.

Church of Christ
The sermon at Fairlane Church of Christ will be “Champions” from Philippians 3:12-14. Services are livestreamed on Facebook and broadcast on WLIJ (98.7 FM/1580 AM) at 9 a.m.

Flat Creek Church of Christ is holding Vacation Bible School for all ages, including adults, nightly from Sunday, June 5 to Wednesday, June 8 at 6:30 p.m. Adult speakers will be Marvin Whitworth (Sunday) and Joshua Houston (Tuesday) from Salem Creek Church of Christ and Neil Watson (Monday) of Southside Church of Christ. Dinner. a devotional, homemade ice cream and games are scheduled June 8 beginning at 5:30 p.m.

Southside Church of Christ’s lesson at 10 a.m. Sunday will be “Learned at Home, Practiced in Life” from Genesis 25:27-28, part of the “Your Family Legacy” series. Assembly at Camp Joy is scheduled at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday. Sunday morning and Wednesday services are livestreamed at cofcsouthside.com.

Non-Denominational
Author, speaker and broadcast journalist Monica Schmelter will speak at International House of Prayer Ministries, 845 Union St., at 10:45 a.m. Sunday, June 5.

Presbyterian
First Presbyterian Church’s Pentecost Sunday sermon by Rev. Jim Moran will be from Acts 2:1-21. Attendees are asked to wear red for Pentecost. Services are livestreamed on Facebook. Vacation Bible School will be July 17-21 from 5-8:30 p.m. nightly.
