UNIONVILLE, TN – Community High School Principal Dr. Robert Ralston announced today that Mr. Glenn Tidwell has been named the new head coach for the school’s football program starting in the 2025-2026 season.

Ralston said that Tidwell comes with years of experience and knowledge of the game.

Tidwell most recently served as assistant football coach and defensive coordinator for Cascade High School for the 2021 – 2023 seasons.

"We are excited to have Mr. Tidwell as our new coach,” commented Ralston. “He will begin on

day one making relationships with student athletes as we prepare for next fall's season. Mr. Tidwell will likewise be a great addition to the Community High staff. He already has a deep understanding of our community, and we are excited for this opportunity to expand the culture of the football program."

Prior to Cascade, Tidwell was a defensive coordinator for Shelbyville Central High School for two years from 2017-2019 and before that held assistant football coaching positions in Virginia at Warwick High School in 1999 and Woodside High School from 2000-2006. Tidwell brings head coaching experience from two Virginia high schools - Kecoughtan High School, 2006-2009, and Menchville High School, 2013-2015 - and from Liberty Middle School, 2018-2021.

“I am looking forward to this opportunity to serve as head coach for the Community Vikings,” said Tidwell. “It will be my plan to build a successful program that fosters growth in our youth both in the classroom and on the football field.”

Tidwell earned his Bachelor of Science in Human Performance Studies from the University of

Alabama and a Masters in coaching and Athletics Administration from Concordia University.

While the start date for Tidwell is still being decided, Ralston shared that it is likely he will begin

spending afternoons at Community High starting in January. Ralston also shared that Community High School remains committed to providing a positive and competitive environment for student-athletes.

“We searched for a coach who will not only bring strong leadership and strategic insight to the

football program but also a passion for mentoring young athletes both on and off the field. I believe we found that in Coach Tidwell,” said Ralston.
