Crash impact knocks out street lights

Posted
A single-vehicle wreck early Sunday night on North Cannon Boulevard knocked street lights out over part of Shelbyville early Sunday night.
Domingo Jose Tapia, 22, of Bridlewood Drive had no driver’s license or identification and was uncertain if his vehicle had insurance, Shelbyville police said. The police report said Tapia struck one of the metal light poles in the median at the North Cannon Boulevard-Lane Parkway intersection.
Damage caused street lights on Lane Parkway and nearby areas to go out until repairs could be made.
Tapia was charged with driving without a license or insurance and posted $1,500 bond.
Van stolen
A 1999 Toyota van was stolen from a farm in the 100 block of Whitaker Road last week, a Bedford County deputy was told Saturday.
Correction
Shelbyville Animal Control Officer Jon Evans was involved with the arrest of a man charged with aggravated animal abuse last week. A story incorrectly identified Evans as city police officer Brad Evans.
