David Parker promoted to Central Office

Superintendent of Schools Tammy Garrett announced the appointment of David Parker to supervisor of student services for the 2022-2023 school year.

Parker will be responsible for districtwide supervision of athletics, overseeing the McKinney Vento program to ensure homeless children have equal opportunity to succeed in school, assisting with future school construction projects, and overall support for parents and students with school concerns.

“We are excited to have Mr. Parker join the BCS leadership team at our central office,” commented Garrett. “His heart for student success and support and his extensive education experience will serve him and our district well in this position.”

Parker most recently served as principal of Cascade Middle School for the past ten years. Prior to that he was assistant principal for four years at Cascade when it was a grade 6-12 school and one year as assistant principal at Thomas Intermediate School.

His classroom experience includes teaching social studies at both Shelbyville Central High School and Cascade High School for a total of ten years where he also served as a baseball and football coach. Parker also brings bus transportation experience as he served for two years as transportation supervisor for BCS.

Parker earned his undergraduate degree in secondary education from MTSU and a master’s degree in administration and supervision from TSU.
