Funeral services for Donnita “Mama D” Cook Stacey, age 53 of Shelbyville, will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 15, 2022, in the Chapel of Doak-Howell Funeral Home with Pastor Jimmy Gray officiating. Burial will follow at Willow Mount Cemetery with Pastor Jimmy Kesey officiating.  
Donnita passed from this life Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center surrounded by her loved ones.
Visitation at the funeral home will be held 5-8 p.m. Friday, October 14, at the funeral home.
A native of Bedford County, Donnita was born April 12, 1969, in Shelbyville. She was the daughter of Mary Todd Champion and the late Donnie R. Cook. Along with her father she was preceded in death by; son, Joshua Logan Baker; second husband, Danny Allen Claxton; grandparents, Frank and Gladys Cook and Ray and Lois Todd, and brother-in-law, Tony Medley.
Donnita was a loving and caring member of the Bedford County community. She was well known for her outspokenness, her oversized heart and that even in death she was able to help someone in need through donation. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She loved being present for her family, from cheering for her children in sporting events to Thursday night family dinner.
She was a graduate of SCHS class of 1987 and worked for many years as a dispatcher, working with Walmart Distribution Center and Marten. She also worked concession stands for local schools’ sporting events that she enjoyed very much. She was of the Christian faith having attended most recently The Loft.
She is survived by: children, Lauren (Zeke) Cleek, Alli (Creed) Rose and Lane (Rachel Toon) Stacey all of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Tylin, Ashlynn, Ayden, Callie, Emma, Ella and Livy; sisters, Renee (Amp) Sanders of Shelbyville, Tonya Medley of Manchester, Shannon (Jeff) Eady of Shelbyville and Beth (Shane) Allingham of Murfreesboro; along with many nieces and nephews.
