Two suspects found in a home on Liberty Pike outside Bell Buckle without permission Thursday face drug-related charges, the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office said.
Taylor Michelle Ledbetter, 19, of Frank Martin Road allegedly had 1.2 grams of methamphetamine in her purse and meth pipes were confiscated from near the area where she had been with Spencer Damion Gurton, 25,of Rattlesnake Lodge Road, an investigative report said.
They told deputies they had been given permission to be in the home, which was denied by the homeowner.
Ledbetter was charged with possession of a schedule II drug and both were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia. She was held on $5,000 bond. Gurton was also charged with violation of probation and held without bond.
•Jocorie Emonna Smith, 23, White Drive was charged with possession of a schedule II drug Thursday when crystal methamphetamine was found in her vehicle outside her home, a BCSO report said.
Deputies were serving a warrant and noticed Smith allegedly in the vehicle trying to conceal a bag of meth. Another bag was found in a cigarette pack, the report said.
Smith was held on $3,500 bond.
Shoplifting
A mother and son were charged with shoplifting Tuesday at Dollar General Market, North Main Street.
The manager told police Shirley Cook, 62, and son Timothy Edward Cook, 45, both of Tate Avenue, were stuffing items into a purse and clothing.
Shirley told the manager she puts items in her purse to make the price easier to calculate when she pays. Store manager Abriana Speegle responded to Shirley that she’s been seen before in the store taking items and not paying.
Small items ranging from seven cigarette lighters combs were found in the purse, police said. Two lighters were found on Timothy by an officer. The total amount of merchandise taken was $32.
Both were cited without being arrested.
Theft from school
Tote bags, shoes and socks were stolen overnight Tuesday from one of the portable classrooms at Bedford County Vocational School, J.G. Helton Drive, police were told.
A window was broken to gain entry.

A suspect in several gunshot-related incidents last summer was taken into custody Thursday.

Gamble, who police were told is known on the street as “Beno,” allegedly fired several shots in the Barksdale Lane area, pointed a gun in the face of a woman on Jennifer Circle and was seen and heard holding and chambering a pistol in a video visit with a jail inmate during the summer.
