Eagles drop heartbreaker at Tullahoma

TULLAHOMA - It was a battle from start to finish but in the end host Tullahoma edged Shelbyville Central 49-48 in a District 8-AAA matchup on Friday night.

After trailing 10-9 at the end of the opening period and 22-21 at the intermission, the Eagles outscored the Wildcats 16-10 in the third stanza to hold a 37-32 going into the fourth quarter.

Tullahoma responded by outscoring Shelbyville Central by six in the final eight minutes to get the win.

With 3.2 seconds left to play, Joe Duncan sank a pair of free throws to seal the victory for the Wildcats.

Krys Uselton led the winners in scoring with 15 points followed by Duncan with a dozen.

Shelbyville Central senior Jai'lain Anderson scored a game-high 26.

The Eagles (6-7, 2-3) host Columbia on Tuesday night at 7:30.
