Eagles drop non-region tilt

Shelbyville Central's Golden Eagles fell 41-3 to visiting Riverdale in a non-region contest on Friday evening.
The Warriors scored 21 points in the first quarter and were never challenged from that point.
Shelbyville Central's only points came off the foot of Ben Betzelberger midway through the second quarter.
"Riverdale got several big plays on us from takeaways and that led to some short field touchdown drives and that put us behind early," Shelbyville Central coach Jud Dryden said. "We are still making mistakes and not staying as focused as we need to but we continue to fight in games and that's a huge positive."
The Warriors collected 323 total yards, 158 yards passing with 57 on the ground.
Shelbyville Central had 114 yards rushing with quarterback Jake Preston leading the way with 63 on 13 carries.
Preston connected on 7-of-13 passes for 36 yards.
Riverdale had 120 yards on nine penalties.
"There is just no room for mistakes when you play a team as good as Riverdale," Dryden said. "We will continue to work hard and work on some things that we need to clean up during our off week this coming open week for us."
The Eagles (0-4) travel to Kenwood on September 23 for their next outing.
