Shelbyville Central's Golden Eagles came up a little short in a 3-2 loss to visiting Lawrence County in a District 8AAA matchup on Monday evening.
Right-hander Zachery Graves went the distance for the Wildcats to claim the win on the mound, scattering six hits while fanning 10 batters with no walks.
AJ Parker was impressive on the hill for the Eagles as well, giving up five hits with eight strikeouts and three walks in six innings of work before handing the ball over to Aiden Edwards to pitch the seventh frame.
Colton Moore's double led the winners at the plate with Kade Shultz adding a pair of singles.
Parker's double and single led Shelbyville Central at the plate with Raine Sims collecting a double.
After leading 2-1, the Eagles allowed a run in top of the sixth and seventh innings.
Shelbyville Central (1-2, 1-2 8AAA) will try to split the two-game series at Lawrence County on Tuesday.
