Eagles win play-in, fall in 1st round

Shelbyville Central scored two runs in the top of the seventh inning and that proved to be the difference as the Golden Eagles extended their season with a 6-5 win over host Franklin County in the District 8-AAA Tournament play-in game on Wednesday night.

Relief pitcher Aiden Edwards handled the Rebels in the bottom of the seventh to claim the win on the mound.

The Eagles collected 10 hits with Kyler Trice leading the way going 3-for-3.

Raine Sims added a double for the winners.

Braden Henley led Franklin County at the plate with a pair of hits, including a double. Gavin Hill added a two-bagger.

A.J. Parker got the start on the mound for the Eagles before handing the ball over to Brady O'Neal then Edwards.

Tullahoma 6, Shelbyville Central 0

In a game that was delayed for a good while due to the wet weather, Shelbyville Central was outscored 6-0 at Tullahoma on Thursday evening in first round action of the District 8-AAA Tournament.

The Eagles will host other games in the tournament starting on Saturday.

The Wildcats scored three runs in each of the fourth and fifth innings after the delay to secure the victory.

Brody Melton claimed the win on the mound in relief of Trent Sholey.

Caleb Thomas collected Shelbyville Central's lone hit with a single in the third frame.
