WOODBURY — Shelbyville Central’s Golden Eaglettes claimed their first win of the young season with a 44-35 victory at Cannon County in a TSSAA Hall of Fame game on Friday evening.
After trailing 6-1 at the end of the first quarter, the Eaglettes outscored their opponent 19-8 in the second stanza to hold a 20-14 advantage at the intermission.
Cannon County cut the lead to 28-23 going into the fourth quarter where Shelbyville Central as able to hold on to get the win.
Jaleigah Harris and freshman Paige Blackburn paced the winners with 14 point apiece, including four 3-pointers by Blackburn.
Maleah Sissom’s nine tallies led Cannon County.
The Eaglettes (1-1) faced Moore County in tournament action in Lynchburg on Tuesday, however results were unavailable by press time.
