Eaglettes spoil Lady Champs' Senior Night

Shelbyville Central overcame seven errors in the field and spoiled Cascade's Senior Night, beating the Lady Champs 14-6 in a cross-county clash.

The Eaglettes hammered Cascade for 17 hits and were led by Alyviah Smith's four-hit night.

Of the 17 team hits, Shelbvyille blasted three doubles, a pair of triples and a two-run home run in the top of the third inning off the bat of Kaydence Rippy.

Shelbyville knocked in a pair of runs in the top of the second inning, but saw Cascade answer

in the bottom of the inning with a RBI single by Bailey Olive.

Shelbyville extended its lead in the third frame, driving in five runs, highlighted by Rippy's two-run blast.

Senior catcher Cenzie McAnally drove in a run in the bottom of the third inning, but Cascade struggled to match the production at the plate.

Shelbyville padded its lead with two more runs in the top of the fifth inning with RBIs by Damonyai Lyons and Jaleigha Harris.

Cascade answered with a big sixth inning, plating four runs in the process.

Cascade put its first five batters of the inning on base and got hits by Claire Perry, Cheynne Simpson, and Lani Jones.

By the end of the inning, Shelbyville led just 9-6.

But as quickly as Cascade cut into the Eaglettes' lead, Shelbyville found an answer with a five-run inning in the top of the seventh.

Shelbyville connected on four-straight hits to lead off the inning and knocked in five more runs to close out the game.

Smith and Harris had big nights at the plate, combining for seven RBIs.

For Cascade, Baylee Gipson led the way with a three-hit night, while Olive went 2-for-4 on the night.

Dejah Lineberger got the start in the circle for the Eaglettes and went four innings, allowing two runs on five hits.

She was relieved by Hannah Burks, who pitched the final three inning, scattering four hits and striking out two.

Brianna Horn got the start for the Lady Champs and went 2 2/3 innings before a scary moment occurred in the third.

Horn was hit by a comebacker and left the game.

Addison Pope and Bailey Olive worked the remaining 4 1/3 innings in relief for Cascade.

Cascade was scheduled to face Cornersville on Saturday but will return home on Monday against Eagleville.

Shelbyville closes out the regular season on Monday at Page.
