Elizabeth Irene Winsett Cunningham, age 68, of Shelbyville, passed from this life on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Ascension Saint Thomas Rutherford Hospital surrounded by loved ones.
A native of Bedford County, Irene was born April 9, 1956, to the late Grady Winsett and Mary Sue Maxey Winsett. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by sisters, Uytona Fletcher and Sherry Burks and a brother, Russell Winsett.
Irene wore many hats throughout her life and worked with various companies to support her family. Her most important accomplishment in life was being a loving mother to her children and being present for her family. She enjoyed yardwork, planting flowerbeds, especially lilies, and in the past few years became very close with her Lord and savior Jesus Christ. She was a member of Abundance Life Church.
She is survived by her children, Jeramy Blanton and wife Rhonda of Lynchburg, and Billy Gordon and wife Christie of Shelbyville; loving companion and caretaker, Steve Ledbetter of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Breonna, Triston, Cameron, Paisley, Brittany, and Abigail; Siblings, Dallas Mitchell of Shelbyville, Jeanie Jacobs and husband Brian of Farmington, Tonya Garicke and husband Brad of College Grove, Teresa Basaldu and husband Sam of Tullahoma, Grady Paul Winsett and wife Rena of Shelbyville, Lance Winsett of Nashville, Shannon Darnell and wife Brenda of Shelbyville, and Amy Winsett of Nashville; along with a host of nephews and nieces.
Funeral services were 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 15, 2024, in the chapel of Doak-Howell Funeral Home with Brother Carrol Crosslin and Brother Randall Harmon officiating. Burial followed at Willow Mount Cemetery.
Visitation with the family was held Thursday, prior to funeral services beginning at 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
