Mrs. Essie Green Reese, 94, of Shelbyville, passed away Friday, November 4, 2022, under the loving care and comfort of her family, The Waters of Shelbyville, and Aveanna Hospice.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 9, at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
She was born July 23, 1928, in Lynchburg, Tennessee, to the late Milton and Ethel Ingle Green. She was retired from American Can Company, and also worked with Tyson Foods, Model Sportwear, and the Hosiery Mill. She held membership at Bird Street Church of Christ.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Collins Reese, in 1992; her children, Charles Whitaker, Robert Lee Whitaker, Roger Eddins, Ginnie B. Cole, Mary Elizabeth Woodard, and Peggy Hickerson; grandson, Vernon Eddins.
Survivors include her children, Henry Whitaker, and his wife Margaret, Mary Ortiz, Joe Henry Eddins, Diane Eddins, and Jackie Bowers; grandchildren, Sylvia Hiles, Beverly Hewitt Hayes, and her husband Darrell, Tisha Livingston, Truly Cole, Janice Cole, Teresa Miles, (Tony), Matthew Hickerson-Uhl (Jon), Joseph “Bozo” Evans, (Daravanh), Vincent Woodard, Estelle Duff (Robert); great-grandchild, Essie Eddins; special niece, Linda Jean Harvey.
