HAMPSHIRE — The Cascade Champions tipped off their 2022-2023 season with a monster win at Hampshire on Tuesday night in a Hall of Fame non-district clash.
Eleven different players penciled their way into the scoring column and were led by the senior trio of Lucas Clanton, Jackson Davis and Thomas Gentry, who each reached double figures in Cascade’s 88-28 win over the Hampshire Hawks.
Davis led all scorers with 18 points, while Clanton drilled four treys and added 16.
Gentry chipped in 10 points as well.
Cascade led 20-1 after the first quarter, with the hosts going 1-for-4 from the charity stripe in the opening frame.
Clanton led the way in the opening quarter with eight points, including a 3-pointer, while Davis added six.
That lead ballooned to 30 points by halftime with Cascade pouring on 22 more in the second period.
Seven different Champions scored in the second quarter, with Davis and Gentry combining for 11 points in the quarter.
Not much changed in the third quarter as Cascade connected on four 3-pointers as part of a 27-8 run in the quarter before closing on a 19-8 run in the fourth.
Seven different players for the Hawks scored, but none reached double figures.
While Cascade proved efficient from every inch of the court, one area Cascade struggled in was a the free throw line, where the Champs connected on just 11-of-21 tries.
