Explosive Champions offense on a roll

Whatever the recipe the Cascade Champions are using, it appears to be working.

In two matches this week against Forrest and Community, the Champions have out-scored their opposition 14-1 and claimed a pair of wins, most recently in a 7-0 shutout victory against Community on Tuesday night.

It took nearly 25 minutes but eventually the Champions got rolling against the Vikings.

Drake Hodge broke the stalemate on a strike in the 25th minute on an assist from senior Seth Countess.

Anthony Carpenter scored his first of the night five minutes later when Pablo Solares found him on an assist.

Leading 2-0, Hodge fired home his second score of the night on an assist from Garrett Rucker.

Carpenter fired home his second goal of the night in the closing seconds of the half to put the Champs up 4-0 at the break.

He finished his hat trick barely two minutes into the second half on an assist by Michael Anderson.

Ivan Draine found the back of the net in the 46th minute and Anderson scored the game's final goal in the 79th minute.

"I am very proud of the way we played tonight. It was our first real complete game," coach Zack Spears said.

The win bumps the Champs to 3-0 in the district and 4-1 overall.

Cascade will host Tullahoma on Friday in a non-district match at 6 p.m.
