COALMONT — A monster night by senior Jacob Flannagan wasn’t enough for Community in a 64-57 loss on Friday night at Grundy County.
Flannagan scored at will throughout the contest, totaling a game-high 27 points, but couldn’t get enough help from the supporting cast, as no other Viking reached double figures.
Community hung tough with Grundy County through the first quarter and trailed just 12-11 after the first period, but the one-two punch of Sam and Alex Parsons spurred on a 23-point second period by the Yellow Jackets.
By halftime, Grundy County had stretched its lead to nine points.
A massive effort by Flannagan in the third quarter brought Community back well-within striking distance as the Viking senior tallied 12 points.
But Community just couldn’t get over the hump in the fourth quarter as Grundy County closed the game on a 14-12 run and preserved the seven-point win.
The two Parsons combined for 41 points to lead Grundy County.
Community will be back on the road on Tuesday, traveling to Cannon County for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.
