Frantic man carries gun into police station

An armed man apparently under the influence of medication was arrested after frantically knocking on the side door of Shelbyville police headquarters early Sunday.

Collin Thomas Salmonson, 34, of Murfreesboro allegedly was carrying a pistol when he entered the building shortly after sunrise.

Salmonson told officers six men drugged his drink in a Nashville bar and followed him to his home. He allegedly drove to Shelbyville to get away from them, called 911 and was told to drive to the police department.

Police confiscated the handgun and a bottle of Adderall pills he said were given to him by a co-worker. Officers noted he seemed “paranoid.”

Salmonson was charged with simple possession of a schedule II drug and carrying a weapon in a prohibited location. He was released on $6,000 bond.

  • A man checked for what proved to be a false report of harassment was arrested anyway when a police officer discovered he was wanted in Mississippi — and carrying meth in his clothing.

Austin Blair was charged with burglary in Mississippi, where police said they would extradite. Blair admitted having a small bag of meth and was charged accordingly.
