Frieda Maxene Grogan, age 77, of Moore County, passed away on Monday, April 18, 2022, at Vanderbilt-Harton Medical Center.
Funeral services will be 4 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2022 in the chapel of Jennings-Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Lynchburg with Bro. Mike Awalt officiating. Interment will be at Head of Hurricane Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m.
A native of Moore County, she was born on October 9, 1944, to the late Lem and Ophelia (Edgeman) Cunningham. Before her retirement, she had been employed by Mid-State Vending. Freida enjoyed reading, singing, and square dancing. She was passionate about genealogy and history and used her knowledge of history to help as a volunteer at the Moore County Archives as well as locating and restoring old cemeteries. But most of all, she cherished the time with her beloved family and enjoyed hosting them all for Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Easter dinners.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Melody Grogan; and brother-in-law, Kenneth Murray.
Frieda is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 57 years, William Grogan; children, Angie (Tim) Kennemer, and Justin (Kelly) Grogan; granddaughters, Meacy (James) Russell, Autumn (Cody) Cashion, Abby Grogan, and Katie Kennemer; great-granddaughters, Everlee and Emma Cashion; siblings, Geneva Murray, Helen (Jimmy) Neese, and Kenneth (Linda) Cunningham; and several nieces and nephews.
