Mr. George Richard “Big Rick” Belk, age 53, of Shelbyville, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2022.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, May 26, 2022, at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel.  Burial will follow in Hurricane Grove Cemetery in Manchester.  The family will receive visitors 11 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.

He was born September 30, 1968, in Bedford County. Big Rick was well known as a local limousine driver and cab driver. He also drove wreckers for Farrar Wrecker Service, Head Start School Program, and Webb School. He enjoyed driving anything with a steering wheel and a gas pedal. The bigger, the better. Rick took great pride in keeping his black vehicles clean and shiny. He said, “if the chrome does not shine, the women don't like it.” Rick loved floral print Hawaiian shirts and his many adventures with the Yoes brothers.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Diane Gregory Pope, stepfather, Jack Dempsey Pope, father, Tommy Belk, sister, Nancy Cano, grandparents, George and Martha Gregory.

Survivors include his brother-in-law, Nick Cano; an aunt, Delores Gwin; cousins Lauren Smith and Kyle Simmons; nephews, Stephen Cano, and Lucas Cano; second cousins, Alexis King, Melissa Smith, Bryden Mallard, Daniel Alexander Simmons, and Aria Simmons.

Feldhaus Memorial Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.
