“Peggy Burton [with South Jackson Tullahoma] was attending with us. I sat next to her and we were getting to know each other when I found out about the South Jackson Street Band," Smith said.
She says they both got excited about the possibility of having a great 19 piece band to play swing music along with a Christmas theme. Jackie is offering this event to the public for $25 a ticket.
The theme is planned around the holidays with ticket holders dressing in semi to formal attire. Light Hors d'oeuvres will be served and BYOB with no corkage fee.
Jackie has renovated the old Normandy School into her home which she calls “Three Waters.” The building was deteriorating and now she has used the auditorium area for entertaining.
Social distancing will be expected. Jackie notes that masks are optional and tables will be separated by safe distances.
“Music will be old swing tunes and Christmas songs as well,” Smith said.
From “Jingle Bells” to “Baby It’s Cold Outside” the night of music and dance is sure to reignite some old memories and stir up a few new ones, according to Jackie.
