To the Editor:

Now that the impeachment inquiry of President Donald Trump is over, and a number of witnesses have testified both from the Republicans and Democrats, we as American citizens are perplexed as to the outcome of the hearing. Who is right and who is wrong? All of the witnesses were honorable people. Some served as military officers, or appointed ambassadors, and some were just in the loop.

During the hearings we noticed that some of the members of the hearing had a different mindset than the other members. The Republicans seemed to have a mindset the President was innocent from the beginning. We also noticed that the Democrats tried to show some evidence to justify why they were having this inquiry. Questions were asked from both sides. Republicans were trying to understand why these witnesses were testifying against the President, and not appearing to try to uncover the truth. The Democrats seemed to let the witnesses state their testimony.

We understand that each witness had to state under oath they were telling the truth. It seems odd that some members of the committee choose to try and discredit these witnesses. Why? Isn't this why we were here, to find the truth? If we are not here to find the truth, why are we here? We question why the Republicans were defending the President before the witnesses have finished their testimony. Why?

This was an impeachment inquiry, not a trial. The trial will be in the Senate, but as we watched the proceedings it became apparent the Republicans have already determined the President is innocent. We have to ask, did the witnesses tell the truth? Did the President violate his oath? Did the President break any laws that are set forth under the Constitution of the United States of American?

The President is not above the law. Right?

As Republicans or Democrats we have to hold the Constitution as our sacred law of the land. If we do not, then we are on the road to a fascist government. If there is a trial, then so be it. If the President is guilty under the definition of our Constitution, then he should be impeached. But under no circumstance should we allow a political party to let anyone to remain in office just because it is beneficial to them at the time. If we do, our country will go down a road the we may never recover form in our lifetime. Our country has lost thousands of lives defending the Constitution. One person is not worthy of all of these patriots that have given their lives if that person does not support and defend our Constitution.

Vote for America and support our Constitution.
