Kenneth Wayne Harris, age 84, passed from this life after an extended illness Monday, December 21, 2020, at Alive Hospice of Murfreesboro.

A native of Shelbyville, TN, Kenneth was one of eleven children born to the late James Brady and Annie V. Henson Harris. He was preceded in death by brothers, James L. Harris, Carl C. Harris, Cecil R. Harris, James E. Harris, Doyle E. Harris, and William B. Harris; also sisters, Martha H. Baldauff, and Donna Gore.

Mr. Harris retired from the Eaton Corporation in 1993 as lead supervisor, his ingenuity, wisdom and forethought made him a valuable problem solver for 25 years. He served his country honorably as a Corporal in the Marine Corps. As a resident of the Bedford County he spent free time tending his small farm, growing a large garden every year along with raising a few beef cattle. He also enjoyed fishing, especially floating local rivers, solving puzzles, watching westerns, spending time with his family, and storytelling. Mr. Harris was a selfless and content man who had a helping heart. He lived a life that set a gold standard for his family.

He is survived by: sons, Anthony W. “Tony” (Matilda) Harris, Timothy S. Harris; daughter, Lisa H. White; brothers, Eugene (Kathleen) Harris, and Gerald (Vivian) Harris all of Shelbyville; grandchildren, Robert Anthony Harris, Olivia Harris, Fallon Pagello, Meredith White, Timothy Shan Harris, and Kally Harris, 6 great grandchildren; loving companion of 40 years, Shirley Cook; her children and grandchildren; also the mother of his children, Dorothy Baker Hathaway.

Graveside service will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, December 26, 2020, at Willow Mount Cemetery with Pastor Jason Daughdrill officiating.

Visitation will be held 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. prior to graveside service Saturday, at Doak-Howell Funeral Home.

The family encourages that masks be worn and follow social distancing guidelines.
