HUNTLAND — As the regular season draws to a close, the Cascade Lady Champions continue to play top-end level defense.
Cascade allowed Huntland a single shot on goal and the Lady Champs were able to post another shutout victory, beating the Lady Hornets 2-0.
“Our girls played great from top to bottom tonight. We only allowed one shot all night and that was a heavily contested attempt from distance. I’m really proud of how our girls have worked,” Lady Champ coach Zack Spears said.
In the 16th minute, Caroline McKamey scored to break the stalemate, with senior Carmen Ray recording the assist.
Cascade continued to work the ball into the Lady Hornet end of the field, but was unable to capitalize on a second score in the half.
That trend continued into the second half until Elli Chumley fired a rebound shot to the back of the net for an insurance goal for the Lady Champs.
Cascade held that score through the remainder of regulation.
The Lady Champs will close the regular season on Tuesday at home against Community, who also sits unbeaten in district play.
