MURFREESBORO - It took a while, but the Cascade Lady Champions finally had their breakthrough.
During their first victory of the season, Cascade hammered Central Magnet to the tune of 20 hits in an 18-3 blowout.
Nearly every Lady Champion that stepped to the plate was in the zone on Monday night.
Lani Jones, Caitlin Fannin and Claire Perry each recorded four hits, including one double apiece.
Jones also mashed a leadoff home run in the first at-bat of the game.
After Jones' solo shot in the top of the first, Central Magnet rallied for three runs in the bottom of the frame.
From there, it was all Cascade.
The Lady Champs answered the first-inning surge with eight runs in the second frame, two in the third, before closing the game with six runs in the fifth to force the run-rule limit.
Fannin was the offensive hero, knocking in four runs, while Jones, Perry, Bailey Olive and Cenzie McAnally each accounted for two RBIs.
Freshman Addison Pope took the win in the pitcher's circle and after the three-run first, settled in and shut down the Central Magnet bats.
She gave up four hits and four walk, but struck out two and didn't allow a run to cross the plate after the first inning.
