Mrs. Laura Leigh Wright Schmidt, age 52, of Shelbyville, died Saturday, December 31, 2022 in Nashville.
Laura was born in Shelbyville, Tennessee and was a clinical lead nurse with Optum Healthcare. She was preceded in death by her mother, Joyce Faye Poarch Wright: brother, Ricky Wright; and grandson, William Lee Alwardt.
Mrs. Schmidt is survived by her husband of nine years, John Mason Schmidt, Shelbyville; children, Jesse Dakota Pugh, Wartrace, Jennifer Leigh Alwardt, Shelbyville, Kate Elizabeth Pugh, Shelbyville; father, Homer Wright, Shelbyville; sisters, Vicky Wright Voelkel, Shelbyville, Sandy Wright Tapp, Shelbyville; grandchildren, Lyla Jeen Pugh, Brylen Brooks Pugh, Joy Nichole Pugh, Jamey Rhett Alwardt, Maddie Adelaide Alwardt, Emmaline Faye Alwardt, Everleigh Grace Alwardt.
Family members will receive friends on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 from 5-8 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Thursday, January 5, 2023 from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home with Rev. Randall Harmon officiating. Burial will follow in Andrew – Liggett Cemetery.
Joshua Pope, Jet Tapp, Joe Wright, Keith Newcomb, Eddie Smith, and Chris Brown will serve as pallbearers.
