•FUN SHOW

The annual spring Fun Show will be conducted Thursday through Saturday at Calsonic Area on the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration grounds.

Judges for the event will be: Leah Boyd, Derek Bonner and Jamie Bradshaw. All classes start at 6 each night. General admission is $5 per person.

Those attending will get a taste for all the different features which make up the Tennessee Walking Horse industry. It’s a preliminary for the big show in August.

This Thursday, there will be a lite shod walking horse (optional tack) class.

Who doesn’t love those little yearlings? Perhaps future champions? Check ‘em out on Friday night as the first class rolls into the arena.

Exhibitors are well aware that the Riders Cup class features triple points. That means a lot in this industry of heavy competition. Rounding out the show on Saturday night will be the walking stallions 5 years and over.

The crowd is generally at its feet during this class. (See coverage later this week in the T-G.)

•CRUISE-IN

The Fourth Friday Cruise-in will be held 6 to 8 p.m., Friday on the public square. The event is sponsored by Celebration City Region Car Club and Newton Motor Group. This is a free event with live music.

•SUMMER READING PROGRAM

Shelbyville-Bedford County Public Library will begin registration Thursday for its Summer Reading Program. Register and pick up reading/activity logs at the library or visit SBCPLIBRARY.org. There will be fun, prizes and activities for ages 1 to 18.

This event is happening in partnership with The Fly Cultural Arts Center, Dunkin and Ascend Federal Credit Union.

“This is an important event at our library, encouraging the youth of our area to read and enjoy the many benefits the library offers over the course of the summer,” said Emilee’ S. Le Clear, youth services librarian.

The theme of the 2022 program, which will run June 6 through July 22 is: “Oceans of Possibilities.” (See more in Saturday’s Life and Leisure.)
