A man was found dead inside a car Thursday afternoon on Lentz Street, Shelbyville police said.
The body of Blaine E. Gregg was in the vehicle’s back seat, Officer Garrett Stephens’ report said. No indications of foul play were apparent.
Gregg’s vehicle appeared to have not been moved for a week, a neighbor told police. Another neighbor said Gregg was not in the vehicle Wednesday night.
Police were notified Thursday when passersby said Gregg did not appear to be moving. Stephens said he checked Gregg and felt no pulse.
“It looked like he had been living out of his vehicle,” Stephens said in his report. Clothing and personal possessions were scattered through the interior.
Investigators were told Gregg has family members in Ohio. Gregg had a Tennessee driver’s license, and investigators at one point were told he had relatives in the Shelbyville area.
Trailer stolen
A lock was cut from a flatbed trailer last seen late Wednesday afternoon at a farm on Maxwell Chapel Road, the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office said.
Drug charges
Cocaine and 10 Oxycodone pills were found in a vehicle during a traffic stop Thursday on West Lane Street, police said.
William Ricie Wheeler, 29, of Central Avenue, was charged wth possession of a schedule II drug, simple possession, and speeding. He was released on $5,000 bond.
Resisting arrest
A woman was charged with resisting arrest Wednesday after she allegedly fell to the floor and began flailing her arms in an attempt to prevent being placed into a Bedford County Jail cell.
Bonnie Joe Brown, 35, of Rabbit Branch Road was picked up by three deputies and carried to a holding cell, a BCSO report said. She is being held without bond.
