She was born on July 28, 1937, to the late Robert and Geneva Adcock. She was a native of Bedford County and grew up in the Bell Buckle community, graduating from Bell Buckle High School, class of 1955.

Mary was a member of the El Bethel Baptist Church where she taught VBS and served on the kitchen committee. She was a loving mother, Nana, sister, aunt, and friend to all. Mary was a long-time employee of Kmart 9055, where she served as assistant manager for many years. During retirement, she became a licensed real estate agent, serving at Crowell Properties alongside her husband. Her hobbies included crocheting, reading, journaling, and watching movies because she was a firm believer that the little things in life make you happy.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James Milton Sanders, in 1995, and her second husband, W.J. Crowell, in 2015; her son-in-law, Steve McNeil; granddaughter, Summer Rose Sanders; and siblings, Peggy Hatchett, Robert Adcock, Jr., and Jerry Adcock; and stepson, Bill Crowell.

Survivors include daughters: Brenda McNeil of Portland, TN, Tracey (Chris) Brothers of Shelbyville; son, Roger (Barbara) Sanders of Shelbyville; stepchildren, Ed ( Diane) Crowell of Wartrace, and Don Crowell of Shelbyville,  step daughter-in-law Sharon Crowell of Georgia. Grandchildren: Stephen McNeil, Kristen (Justin) Reese, Logan Brothers, Addison Brothers, Nick (Barbara) Morgan, Jessica (Ryan) Smith, and Brennan Sanders. Step-grandchildren: Kimball(Melinda) Shahrokhi, Keivan Shahrokhi, Joseph Crowell, Michael Crowell-Davis, Krystina Crowell-Davis; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Mason, Gavin and Keegan Morgan, Ryder and Boone Smith, Elsie Kate Reese; and one step-great grandchild, Aaron Shahrokhi. Siblings: Patricia (Danny) Dodson of Southaven, Mississippi, and Carey Ann Anderson of Shelbyville.

Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. Saturday, June 18, 2022, in the chapel of Doak-Howell Funeral Home with Brother Dan Reed officiating.  Burial will follow at the Pressgrove Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m.

The family would like to thank Compassus Hospice, Jennifer West Insell, and the staff at Lou Lou’s Private Care Home for their support during Mary’s final days.

Doak-Howell Funeral Home is serving the family.
