Mary Joyce Cortner Thompson, age 90, of Shelbyville, TN, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 7, 2022.
The family will have a private graveside service at Willow Mount Cemetery, 2 p.m. Saturday, April 9.
Joyce was born in Rowesville, TN on February 7, 1932 to William A. and Mattie Cortner. She is survived by loving spouse of 70 years, Donnie Thompson; her children, Kathy (Philip) Bobo of Lascassas, TN, Mark (Jennifer) Thompson of Shelbyville, and Christy (Jerry) McClenney of Smyrna, TN. She leaves behind six grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; brothers, William E. Cortner and John W. Cortner; sister, Ruth Bellenfant, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents and her sister, Margaret Hammond.
Joyce was a devoted Christ follower, wife, and mother. She was an avid quilter and seamstress and enjoyed gardening. She worked alongside her husband in the family business for much of her married life.
