Funeral service for Mary Sanders Lovvorn Hix, age 93, of Shelbyville, will be held 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 2, 2021, at Fair Haven Baptist Church with Pastors Charles Williams and Rob McKamey officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Hix passed from this life Saturday morning, January 30, 2021, at home under the care of Willow Brook Hospice surrounded by her family.

Visitation will be held at Fair Haven Baptist Church on Monday, February 1, 2021, from 6-8p.m. and prior to funeral service on Tuesday staring at 11:00 a.m.

The family requests that masks be worn and social distancing practices be implemented during all services.

Mary was born April 24, 1927, in Shelbyville, TN to the late Clarence and Elbert Lee Sanders and was preceded in death by: husbands, Lester Lovvorn, and Reagor Hix; son, Dale Lovvorn; and brothers, B.H., Marvin, Herman, Wilborn, and Bobby Sanders.

Mary retired from Walmart after 25 years of employment, and worked for New Covenant Christian Book Store. She enjoyed sports; she played softball well into her 40's and was an avid Atlanta Braves fan. She loved watching her kids and grandkids participate in sports and other activities. She was the matriarch of her family, always putting them first. She was also very active with her church and was one of the founding members of Fair Haven Baptist Church.

Survivors include: children, Melissa (Tony) Barrett, Steve (Maria) Lovvorn, Dennis (Andrea) Lovvorn, and Mike (Chas) Lovvorn all of Shelbyville; daughter-in-law, Brenda Newman Lovvorn; step-children, Billy Hix, his wife Jan and sister, Carol; 15 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren; also many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to her caregivers, Pat Davis and Nancy Holt. Thanks also to the staff of Vivient Health Care, with a special thanks to Rebecca Lancaster.
