Two drug charges were filed against a man stopped for driving a vehicle with an expired registration early Saturday on North Cannon Boulevard.

Officer Dylan Bliss said in his report he spotted a bag containing crystal methamphetamine in the vehicle’s floorboard.

A “large amount” of small plastic bags, some allegedly with meth residue, and a Suboxone pill were confiscated from Triston Cole Thibault, 24, of Shelbyville. A syringe containing liquid meth was allegedly found in a door. Thibault told officers he was “feeling the effects” of taking meth.

Alex Jordan Harris, 25, of Old Pencil Mill Road was initially stopped after being clocked at 50 mph in a 30 mph zone on North Main Street.

Harris failed field sobriety tests and later tested .159 and .161 on an intoximeter, police said. The gun was found in the vehicle’s center console.

A man riding a power cart allegedly stole a purse left inside a cart at Food Lion, Colloredo Boulevard, at midday Saturday.

Thomas Keith Cook, 44, of Tate Avenue was seen on video footage, police said. Officers found Cook at a Tate Avenue home, where he said he took $24 and left the purse by the roadside.

Police said they found $150 of $200 missing from the purse on Cook, who was charged with theft of property and released on $1,000 bond.

A domestic violence suspect who allegedly fought off attempts to obtain a blood draw Saturday was charged with resisting stop/ frisk/halt/search efforts.
