MURFREESBORO — After a second quarter rally left the game tied at 21-apiece between Central Magnet and Community Middle, the Vikings responded by outscoring the hosts 25-2 in the second half and cruised to a 46-23 victory on Thursday night.
Community jumped out to a slim 9-6 lead after the first quarter, but saw Central Magnet respond with 15 points in the second frame to knot the game at 21 apiece.
Central Magnet's Owen White accounted for nine of the team's 15 points in the quarter to spur the rally.
Community, however, was more than Central Magnet could manage as Landon Lovvorn and Austin Stickler spurred the Vikings' second-half charge.
Lovvorn knocked down seven points in the third frame, while Stickler added five.
White accounted for Central Magnet's only points in the third quarter.
Leading 33-23 after three quarters, the Vikings took off on a 13-0 run that stretched the span of the fourth frame.
Community was led by Lovvorn's game-high 20 points, while Austin Wilson also reached double figures and scored 12.
White led the home team with 11 points.
Community returns to action on Thursday, hosting MTCS following the Viqueens' game, which tips off at 6 p.m.
