MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Middle Tennessee softball fell to the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers, 2-1, on April 12 to even the series at one apiece.

The Blue Raiders (20-22, 8-9 CUSA) struggled at the plate, managing just one hit against the Hilltoppers (21-17, 7-9 CUSA). Macie Harter recorded the lone hit in the fifth inning. Despite drawing nine walks, MTSU was unable to capitalize. The Blue Raiders' only run came in the first inning when Ansley Blevins walked with the bases loaded.

On the mound, Jesyne Espinal pitched well in relief, tossing four innings and allowing just one earned run while striking out two.

By the Numbers

  • 23: The Blue Raiders home run streak was ended at 23 games this afternoon. It was the longest streak in NCAA softball this season.
  • 9: Middle Tennessee tied a season high with nine walks today.
