After sitting out through their third COVID-19 quarantine, Shelbyville Central's Golden Eaglettes returned to action and claimed a 64-49 win over Franklin County inn a District 8-AAA matchup on Tuesday night at the Rick Insell Gymnasium.

"This has been a season like no other," Shelbyville Central coach Jen Hicks said.

"Today was Day 1 coming off our third quarantine. As a coach, you expect rust when you haven't been able to be in the gym."

The Eaglettes (9-6, 4-4) took control early, posting leads of 19-12 after the first quarter, 39-17 at the intermission and 50-32 going into the final eight minutes.

Freshman Lilly Brown turned in a great performance scoring a game-high 23 points to lead Shelbyville Central. Kendall Dearing netted 15 while Paige Blackburn collected a dozen.

Madison Partin pitched in 12 points while Macy Pittenger contributed 11.

"I coach the girls to enjoy the game and work hard together and battle through the rusty moments. We were able to get a great team win tonight," Hicks said.

After the boys game on Tuesday night the FCA hosted a Courts of Praise event.

"This was a great event and several students accepted Christ," Hicks said.

In make-up games, the Eaglettes travel to Lawrence County on Thursday night at 6 then hit the road to Coffee County on Friday evening at 6.
