To the editor, Seventy-five years ago last week, Aug. 14, 1945 was the end of World War II. My uncle (Otis A Fritz) was a corporal in the United States Army during WW II. He enlisted on July 8, 1941. Two years later he was captured by Nazi Germany and sent to Stalag 3B. The first report of his capture was Feb. 17, 1943 and the last report was July 13, 1945. Based on the two reports, Otis was imprisoned 877 days. Ultimately he was liberated and honorably discharged...

My uncle Otis was my hero. I get really upset when people, especially politicians who have never served a day, bad mouth POWs or anyone else who serves. Those who were POWs and those who lost their lives in the service of our country are our heroes. We should never forget.
