Paul entered this world 86 years ago in an ice storm and passed in the same way in the early morning of February 20, 2021 after a short illness at Saint Thomas West Hospital in Nashville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert Odell and Bernice Douglas Armstrong; brothers, William, James, Kenneth, Doug and Jack Armstrong and by great-grandchildren, Carson Hatchett and Brooklyn George.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Susie Inez (Katherine) Armstrong; sisters, Mary Paulson, Ruth Prince; brothers, Roy Armstrong, Ray Armstrong; children, Charles (Rita) Armstrong, Tommy (Barbara) Armstrong, Emma (Robert) Montgomery; grandchildren, Jason (Susan) Armstrong, Julie (Eric) Smith, Susan (Andy) Smithson, Leslie George, John (Ruth) Montgomery, Lori (Patrick) Harden, Rob (Lara) Montgomery; great-grandchildren, Jacie (Dillon) West, Emilie Armstrong, Claire Smithson, Drew Smithson, Mason Smith, Jacob Harden, Sam Smith, William George, Gunner Harden, Maddie Montgomery, Josh Montgomery, Graham Montgomery, Nolan Montgomery; great-great-grandchild, Fisher West.

Pete retired from Tyson Foods after 25 years and was a member of Southside Church of Christ. The song, "Strong" by Will Hoge says it best, "He was a get to work on time kind of man. He loved one woman for all his life. He would give you the shirt off his back or give you his last dime. Everybody knows he wasn't just tough he was strong. He would pick you up and wouldn't let you down, rock solid inside out somebody you could trust and steady as the sun."

Pete and Susie enjoyed life together and you hardly saw one without the other. He was a great father and his legacy lives on through each of them. He loved spending time with his family and special breakfasts with his grands. The grandchildren could always find a piece of Werthers Originals in his front shirt pocket that he saved for each of them. Pete was a lover of dogs and had many that would not leave his side. He was a craftsman and built his first home room by room, for his family and there are very few things at his current home that he didn't build himself. Yard work and staying busy was what gave him great joy.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Bedford County Humane Society.
